I regret that I never had the opportunity to see Bloody Sunday in the theaters because I think that it requires the attention of a darkened theater so the transitions that mimic the blinking eye can have more impact & the cinema verite style feels more organic than confusing for those of us who are less familiar with the events & people. I think that I will have to rewatch it, but the emotional impact on a formerly enthusiastic, now grim determined civil rights leader who seems to feel the allure of violence (it doesn’t hurt to have the person who starred in the series Jekyll) encapsulates the entire viewing experience. Very tragic.
