Blackboard Jungle is perhaps the earliest ancestor of movies like Stand Up and Deliver, Dangerous Minds and Lean on Me. Sadly despite being over 50 years old, Blackboard Jungle is still germane! If anything, it is more unflinching in how it shows that some kids actively want to hurt the teachers and even the smartest won’t have any opportunities so at least teach them how to read a want ad!
