What I loved about Bill Cunningham New York is how he is a beauty zealot. Who needs a bathroom, a kitchen, food? To be so passionate about anything is quite remarkable, but also not to care about making a living & transmit that passion to others is truly amazing! When his assistant asked him who John Singer Sargent is, I thought, “Fire him!” There is only one moment shot in the traditional interview style & mom & I interpreted his response very differently.
