Almost Human

Drama, Fantasy, Horror

Director: N/A

Release Date: January 17, 2011

Almost Human was a crime procedure set in a Blade Runner-esque future complete with androids and the moral implications of their existence. I enjoyed it, especially whenever Dorian, the lead android, would get into a fight and do something clearly not human. There were some promising story arcs. My favorite episode was Unbound, which featured the tv icon, John Larroquette, and Gina Carano, who got better exposure in this episode than she ever did in Haywire! If you don’t watch the series, just watch that episode, and you’ll see it at its best. Unfortunately it was cancelled after one season, and even I recognized some story lines that were rehashed from Vampire Prosecutor. The first episode tried to set up an epic mythological storyline that was largely dropped for most of the season and thus forever. At the end of the day, if you didn’t like any of the main characters, the viewers didn’t come back for the story because the story was either underdeveloped or not fully executed. Thanks for the fun.
