When I saw the movie, Romulus, My Father, I was more confused than when I started. Skip the movie. I am not familiar with Raimond Gaita, but for a man deeply embedded in the academic world, he is anything but dispassionate & emotionally removed in his reflections of his father’s life and the other people who had some role in his early life. He treats each person with sympathy, dignity, tenderness & love. Highly recommended for anyone who knows someone who struggles with issues of mental illness. A quick read, but you won’t want to rush through it.
