I think that Higher Ground perfectly captures how some people are made to feel like outcasts & not loved by God based on how fellow Christians treat them because they are attractive, want to praise God in a way not approved by the majority, an intellectual or express doubts! I also think that it shows what many Christians get right: Christians being passionate sexually about their partners (no one believes me when I say that in church, people are almost to the point of groping one another & making out in the aisles sometimes), acting like total Jesus freaks with all the smiling & awkward praise monologues, praying to God in the bathroom & car like a crazy person, sincere singing, constant Bible quoting. Overall I thought that it was a perfect slice of life–one woman’s experience with a very traditional, but slightly hippy Christian life. Does have deliberate pacing (code for slow), but overall quite absorbing!
