Acting was excellent & it wasn’t the usual heartwarming redemption story, but in the end, Goodbye Solo was so stark & unflinching that I wish that I never saw it. I wanted to scream at Solo to go back home, the money isn’t worth it, people don’t care here, you can work forever, but hearts only get broken here because people will only deflect your efforts to form a connection. It was awful to see Solo unraveling in the face of confronting such despair, seeds of separation from his own life & the growing gap between his expectations of how life should be lived & how people actually live it despite all his best efforts.
