So a lot of these cartoons have the pretense that the heroine will become herself, but in actuality, she usually just ends up with the guy. In Brave, which has a sudden change in rhythm & pacing, perhaps due to production issues, at a certain turning point, the heroine does become herself while also reconciling with an essential element in her life. What is more important: being who you should be and doing what you are supposed to be doing or being who you are and remembering what it was like to be yourself & following your instincts.
