The Masked Saint is about a professional wrestler turned pastor/vigilante. The Masked Saint is allegedly a Christian film and based on a novel though it is marketed as a true story, but it is still pretty bad even by those standards. I watched The Masked Saint because Diahann Carroll is in it, but that was not worth it.
The Masked Saint features Roddy Piper’s last film appearance-still not worth it. It was surreal that the actress who played Freddie, the reporter in Hannibal, was in it-STILL not worth it! I kept having bad The Strain’s season 2 flashbacks. The Masked Saint’s villain, The Reaper, looks like the rock star/latest incarnation of the master, and the titular character looks more like a masked luchador than a WWF, now WWE, wrestler.
The best part of The Masked Saint is when the titular character tries to strengthen the bonds of the community and calls the congregation out on their hypocritical BS when they are not welcoming to their neighbors from the wrong side of the track. Unfortunately the best part is not enough of a reason to see The Masked Saint even if you are a fan of Christian films that are not as good a quality as their secular counterparts.
