Where to Watch

See Into the Woods for the eternally perfect Meryl Streep and the eminently affable Emily Blunt otherwise see the original recorded Broadway version. Into the Woods as a movie became visually stunted after awhile so even though the performances are solid, they are not transcendent. Also after seeing the original Into the Woods, I felt sucker punched into thinking about irrevocable consequences of mortality, morality and sexuality, but the movie tried to lighten the melancholy. The movie is an adequate adaptation, but it did not move me enough and force me to abandon my memories briefly like the musical movie Les Miserables.
