My main problem with The Host was human Melanie’s accent: are you Southern or Western? I read the book, but the casting for the guys was so similar that I had a problem distinguishing the characters from each other. Is that the guy who was her boyfriend but wants to kill her or the guy who wants to kill her, but is her boyfriend? Diane Kruger and William Hurt were probably the best parts of the movie. The rest felt like a reject from the CW series list. I know that Meyer of Twilight fame is deeply into the idea of reconciliation despite warring natures-a reference to original sin, but the resolution is so ridiculous and unearned that I can’t take it seriously. If you love alien movies and people wearing shiny silver or white clothes to show that they are more advanced, then The Host is a must see.
