If you like So You Think You Can Dance, then you may know some of the dancers & choreographers involved in the dance drama, The LXD. The positive: majority of dancing is amazing. The story is better than the average drama which is amazing considering that it was written by dancers & not professional writers (whatever that is), but it becomes uneven & I forgave it because of the dancing. If this was a real battle of good versus evil, then at episode 5 of Season 2, which has my favorite dance sequence, the LXD seemed less serious about the mission than their evil counterparts & lost focus. Good doesn’t seem like it is going to win & considering that the evil side had a better story & amazing choreography, I accepted it. Even if you don’t like dancing, but you love scary stories, you’ll love Season 2. First & second seasons are the strongest until last 2 episodes of 2nd season when it felt less tethered to reality. Around Episode 5 of Season 3, the story snaps back into focus except for Episode 7, which is eye rollingly lame, derivative & cliche. Interestingly, there are no permanent female cast members on the good side or in the majority of the series, which hurts the show when you compare the dominant roles of LXD counterparts to the eerie, freaky, transcendent & memorable moments provided by The Dark Nurse (think terrifying ballerina) or the three monsters (think Sirens meet scary mermaids without the tails). Only the Robot man on LXD team provides a consistent dance style & never falls out of character.
