I really enjoyed Fearless. First, I loved Jet Li before he started making American films. Even my mom loves him. Second I love martial arts in film, and Fearless does a great job featuring the entire fight as opposed to chaos cinema techniques used lately. Third, Fearless is a period piece and tackles the issue of colonialism. I’m sure that there were plenty of liberties taken with the historical account of Huo Yuanjia’s life, but at least it served a purpose. Fourth, Fearless’ message is completely elegant and Christian: humanity over pride, life over death, substance over image. Fifth, Fearless is visually beautiful to watch. Don’t be afraid of subtitles! Watch Fearless.
