Edge of Tomorrow is an excellent action film. Edge of Tomorrow features a craven military officer who eventually becomes the cinematic action icon Tom Cruise that we all know and love before he fired the agent who made him famous. Edge of Tomorrow is Groundhog Day meets World War I & II with a dash of La Jetée. Edge of Tomorrow never feels repetitive. Other than the emotional development and the historical allusions, I didn’t delve any deeper to find any greater social or political commentary though it may have been there. I’m not sure when the universe decided that we liked Emily Blunt, but we do. I’m not entirely sure about the implications of the end of Edge of Tomorrow, and what it means for humanity, but the filmmakers probably just wanted a Hollywood ending and room for a sequel still Alpha vs Omega. Now what can we do? Or is it simply a video game narrative device?
