I decided to read Aftershock & Others: 19 Oddities because it had a short story that is part of F. Paul Wilson’s history of his fictional world. F. Paul Wilson presents his short stories by providing the chronological context of what other projects he was working on at that time, what inspired the story and then the story. Aftershock & Others: 19 Oddities is sort of like Amazon.com. F. Paul Wilson‘s format basically subtly provides recommendations of other stories or novels that you may like. Now I have two more books that I want to read: another short story anthology and Midnight Mass because those books feature vampires. The actual short stories in Aftershock & Others: 19 Oddities vary in quality. I prefer getting completely absorbed and lost in a story so while I enjoyed the book, I’m eager to return to one of F. Paul Wilson’s novels.
