I’m not interested in Sherlock Holmes-books or b&w movie version (I love Robert Downey Jr., but I really don’t need a steampunk version), but I was delighted by the first season of the Moffat series because of the recasting in this time period, which Moffat also did with the excellent series Jekyll, excellent cast of actors, making Watson relevant as opposed to a mere sounding board for Sherlock and having Sherlock as a genius, but emotionally disabled individual. However, 2nd season felt like it was going through the motions & there was no sense of a real threat or challenge to Holmes. I felt like I needed to rewatch the first season to pick up on allusions in second. If it wasn’t for Bednedict Cumberbatch, I probably would have stopped watching Sherlock.
