On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Robyn Bahr asked the Boston Society of Film Critics’ members if anyone was available to be a last minute guest and discuss “Past Lives” (2023), Celine Song’s since Oscar-nominated feature directorial debut. I knew that fellow Cambridge Day writer & BSFC member Ally Johnson loved the movie so after I confirmed that she wasn’t available via text, I pounced on the opportunity to spend hours talking about movies with fellow film lovers. Sometimes not having plans on a weeknight really pays off! My first appearance on The Film Stage Show with podcast hosts Brian Roan, Robyn and Bill Graham ran for almost three hours. It was years since I appeared on a podcast, and they made me feel right at home!
If you were not able to go the West Newton Cinema panel discussion, or you were able to go, but are curious what I was thinking because a moderator is not supposed to dominate but insures that the panelists and audience speak, then you’re in for a treat. On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, I recorded with Brian and Robyn to discuss the Oscar-nominated “American Fiction” (2023). Fun fact: on November 16, 2023, Robyn and I saw the film together at the grand opening of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema located in Boston’s Seaport District, which meant lots of food and shuttle buses because the Red Line was down for repair (shocker).
