How I Live Now is equally a beautiful film and story that effectively uses a post-apocalyptic backdrop to examine the changes in the main character: from outwardly hostile teen with wounded inner life to loving and strong woman with a rich, connected inner life. Kudos to the novelist for using the theme of British children set adrift by war, which adds a historical emotional resonance (think WWII). A must see as long as you don’t think too long about the family relationship.
