Poster of The Tomb

The Tomb

I decided to read The Tomb because it was the second book in The Adversary Cycle, which I unintentionally started when I read The Keep, which I adored! It is also the first book in the Repairman Jack series. In other words, I’ve inadvertently committed myself to reading a lot of books by F. Paul Wilson. Unlike The Keep, it will be harder to get into The Tomb because The Tomb is supposed to take place in modern times, but is obviously dated whereas The Keep is clearly set in the past. Reading about Betamax and answering machines immediately took me out of the book’s world and had me reminiscing about my own, but as the story progressed, I found it clever, interesting and mournful. Clearly Wilson’s forte is creating epic battles between good and evil characters who are not wholly good or evil, but have complex, sympathetic and tragic histories. I don’t mind getting myself into yet another two series!
