Where to Watch

Ramsay learns about Indian food until his competitive nature kicks in (nakedly all but begs locals to laud his efforts), which is endearing, but because of his demeanor (bossy, curses even as a compliment & open critiques), worried that he would inadvertently cause a diplomatic incident. Like a cultural exchange program, the people he encounters learn as much about Scottish working class as he does about Indian food! Obviously taking a page out of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, but Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape-India devotes more episodes to a country & Ramsay gets kudos for cooking on the road. Bourdain wins with breadth (sheer number of shows devoted to so many places) & not just devoted to food. In the end, Bourdain wins because a better traveler & usually reserves his displeasure for voiceovers. But more average people would probably act like Ramsay, who openly enjoys luxury accommodations over roughing it.
