Where to Watch

42 is a decent, old-fashioned movie that would not be out of place as a Sunday night network tv biopic movie. Most characters have epiphanies that racism is *gasp* bad and realizes the apocalypse won’t start if they are adjacent to a black person, and the rest are cartoon racists. Jackie is depicted as a guy who is experiencing most of this hatred for the first time, needs to be told how to behave to be accepted as opposed to getting the standard issue manual that comes way earlier and is lovingly comforted by his boss. Only once is his life actually threatened. My mom loved it and wants to buy it for our personal movie collection. Notable “hey, it’s that guy” actors: the female detective in Sleepy Hollow, the kid from Sling Blade and American Gothic, Stabler, Dr. Cox, “I am a leaf on the wind” from Serenity, Tim Riggins’ brother. Harrison Ford, get money.
