Auschwitz: The Nazis and The Final Solution, aka Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State

Where to Watch

What really distinguishes Auschwitz: The Nazis and The Final Solution, aka Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State from other documentaries about Nazi atrocities: clearly cites the source for recreating events, attempts to do a chronological story that includes life at Auschwitz post WWII, exposes sexual abuse of women and children by both Nazis and fellow male victims of Nazis, has the courage to say that something happened but not enough material for that story (regarding women who were forced into prostitution), direct confrontation of all witnesses who may have perpetrated acts of violence or exploitation regardless of whether a Nazi, a political prisoner or persecuted person, and explicitly addresses Holocaust deniers. The first two episodes did jump around a bit chronologically because understandably eager to highlight victims’ perspectives so could be confusing for viewers. A must see.
