I mistakenly thought that The Salt of Life was a sequel to Mid-August Lunch so I was disappointed. Even though both movies share some of the same actors, it is an entirely different scenario. It had moments, but was nothing more than an infrequently poignant take on a post mid-life crisis as he tries to recapture feeling cared for & desired, but in the end, I just kept thinking of missed opportunities to mentor as a gracious older gentleman or not recognizing his good fortune & rich role in the community, which perhaps we’re all guilty of, but I think that it was an accidental lesson that I learned from the movie.
