Strong acting holds the story together, but if story didn’t keep diverting to my least favorite film technique, the trial, & tightened up a few more threads, Moonlight Mile would have been better. These actors & a French director & screenwriter would have made it a stronger movie. The French know how to tackle grief! Americans seem to depict grief either with quirkiness/humor or swerve into hysterical, angry/impassioned outburst to suddenly everything is fine whereas French have no problem with gray-surviving, seemingly doing well, but not coping psychologically & somehow getting it on screen.
