Where to Watch

I Am Love is a sumptuous action film of the soul. Everything is superb-despite the warmth of all the early interior scenes, the constantly shifting cameras and people moving in & out of the frames reveals a lack of intimacy & comfort that belies the superficial warmth inside the family home. As the seasons change, the ice begins to crack around everyone’s assigned roles. The movie shows a grand clash between expectations, ambition, tradition and passion as each character tries to (re)establish who they are & what they want. I thought it was intriguing that the Italians were cast as the aristocrats and the Russian as the passionate one. The movie ends as a stripped down reimagining of a Rousseau ideal. A must see but there are subtitles, which should not dissuade you from watching it.
